Journal #4: Sigmund Freud's Psychosexual Developmental Stages
Jean Piaget developed the constructivist theory of development, Erik Erikson developed the psychosocial theory of development, and Sigmund Freud developed his own theory of development termed the psychosexual stages of development. Freud’s stages of Psychosexual Development are, like other stage theories, completed in a predetermined sequence and can result in either successful completion or a healthy personality or can result in failure, leading to an unhealthy personality. This theory is the most controversial as Freud believed that we develop through stages based upon a particular erogenous zone. During each stage, an unsuccessful completion means that a child becomes fixated on that particular erogenous zone and either over or under indulges once he or she becomes an adult.
Just like you did for Piaget and Erikson’s stages, describe each of Freud’s five stages with all the specific details of what is successful for each stage. Freud Changing Minds Make sure you cite all sources and images. At the bottom of your post, add the titles and links used for your post. |
