Welcome to your Final Project
1. Choose an Abnormal Disorder
You will have to choose one of the disorders found in the DSM. Come to class on Wednesday, April 29, with your list of possible disorders. We will choose disorders on this day. Once a disorder is taken by a student, no other student will be able to choose that disorder. Take a look at this list I have made for you.
2. Research, Research, Research!
::Reminder: THIS IS A RESEARCH PROJECT::
Use multiple resources to find credible resources for your research project. Remember that this is a PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCH project. Create a google document where you collect all your credible resources. Under each credible resource, bullet point the important points and quotes from that source. This note taking google doc must be shared with me. You must use a minimum of five credible resources.
::Reminder: YOU ARE THE PSYCHOLOGY EXPERT ON THIS DISORDER:
Make sure that your point of view is as a psychologist wanting to become the expert of your disorder. You are teaching the rest of us everything about the disorder.
3. Organize
You will use five different mediums to present and showcase all the knowledge you have gained from your research. Two mediums are mandatory, but you can choose the remaining three. Figure out how you want to organize your information. You cannot repeat the same information over and over throughout all the mediums. Each medium should have a specific focus.
For instance, you can:
1. You must write a personification of the disorder to showcase what power your chosen disorder has on its subjects
2. You must create a technology presentation (minimum of 12 slides that are not text heavy and where the information is cited) that explains how your chosen disorder is diagnosed as well as the disorder classification it fits under
3. Create a video to serve as a Public Service Announcement to educate the public about the disorder
4. Write up the various methods of therapy typically used for your chosen disorder and find case studies for the various therapy methods
5. Maybe you know someone with your chosen disorder and you want to interview them. You can film it or you can write up a report sharing a personal case study of someone with the disorder.
ALL SOURCES MUST BE PROPERLY CITED!
4. Presentation
You must use BlendSpace to store all 5 mediums of your final project. You will need to practice your entire presentation. This also means that you should know your login information when it is your turn to present. It is up to you to decide the order of your presentation. You will be graded on your presentation. Do not simply read off the screen as you should always face your audience. If you need something to reference, use notecards.
Grading:
20 points per medium x 5 = 100 points
presentation 50 points
Google Doc Notes 25 points
APA Reference Page 25 points
So do the math and you will see that your final exam is worth 200 points!
Seniors will begin presenting Wednesday, May 13 and finish on Thursday, May 14.
